LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaq) - Amir Saeed Rawn, a member of the Pakistan Bar Council, on Friday said that the Council is the representative organization of approximately 200,000 lawyers across Pakistan. He stated that it not only provides legal services but also plays a vital role in the establishment of justice and in ensuring the accountability of powerful institutions and influential groups.

Speaking at a United Nations Human Rights Conference in Thailand, Amir Saeed Rawn said that lawyers do not merely fight legal cases; they also play an active role in promoting justice in society and protecting the rights of vulnerable and marginalized groups.

He stated that when a citizen has no other avenue to seek justice, they turn to a lawyer, who becomes their last ray of hope. He added that, in order to build a fair and justice-based society, the Pakistan Bar Council works alongside other bar associations to organize seminars, workshops, and conferences.

Amir Saeed Rawn emphasized that lawyers serve as a bridge between high principles and ground realities. Strengthening lawyers, he said, is equivalent to strengthening the very foundations of the justice system. He further noted that the Pakistan Bar Council is fully aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals and remains committed to the promotion of human rights.

During his address, he stated that development and human rights cannot be separated from one another, and that the legal profession plays a fundamental role in advancing both.

Addressing the international community, he remarked that support provided for legal education and institutional strengthening should not be viewed as charity, but rather as an important investment.

Amir Saeed Rawn also reaffirmed the commitment of the Pakistan Bar Council to continue working with the United Nations, national and international institutions, and other bar associations to promote human rights, professional excellence, and sustainable development.
